Reportage Photography Project: Save Gaby's Deli
I covered this event as a documentary photographer after being contacted by another professional photographer. They were unable to cover the event themselves.
Gaby’s a popular deli in the heart of London’s Theatreland was threatened with closure. A public campaign was set up to help save the deli.
A whole range of actors and performers gave their time to entertain the customers as part of this campaign. This documentary photography was shot one evening.
The reportage photography images tell the story during one evening. Happy customers not only tucked into the famous salt beef sandwiches but were also treated to a number of live performances. All those performing were generously donating their time and experience free of charge as a token of goodwill. Gaby himself can be seen carrying some plates out to happy customers at the end of this gallery
The deli remains open to this day so hopefully, my part as a documentary photographer helped in some small way.
